My first visit here a number of years ago left me feeling let down as I couldnt find anything remotely resembling a trigpoint and decided that the trig was a mapping error and that it was the coastguard hut that was marked instead. Then a couple of days ago I had an inspiration. On todays visit I scrambled onto the open windowledge and managed to see on to the roof. There I could see a low cement pyramid (approx 4 inches high) that slightly resembled a trig. Hanging on with one hand I was able to get my mobile phone high enough to get a photograph and to be able to establish that there is a large brass rivet in the centre of the pyramid and it looks to have been covered with a lid at some stage. I guess I can safely mark this one in my database as active now instead of missing :) St Johns Point - Top St Johns Point - Side St Johns Point - Coastgua |
